The GMS Group established its Photo Finishing business in 1982. The first laboratory started in Mumbai on 3rd February, to develop & produce color prints in one hour. The group successfully expanded its operations to a number of major cities in India & became the largest producer of Color Prints in the world, as a single entity
In 1994, the GMS Group, once again pioneered a new technology in the country. It was the first entity to introduce large format digital printing across the country. This technology took the advertising and FMCG markets by storm, where hand painted billboards and signages were converted into large photographic prints for hoardings, bus stops & signages.
In 1996, the Group launched a dealership for General Motors With the success of these dealerships, the GMS Group partnered with Honda to set up a dealership in South Mumbai in 1998. Subsequently, the Group expanded its operations with Honda to include three additional sales and service outlets across Mumbai. Starting in early 2005, the Group professionalized its management team and further expanded its Automobile business Volvo Commercial trucks, Mahindra Renault & Volkswagen. In 2008 the GMS Group partnered with Nissan Japan as a master franchisee for Nissan Cars in India. The company grew from a start-up to recording an annual sales of approximately 40,000 units and expanding the distribution network from a single dealer to approximately 130 outlets nationwide.

Besides other projects, the GMS Group undertook a large-scale construction project in Kalina, Mumbai, located at the corner of Bandra-Kurla Complex and CST Road in 2007. Over 155,000 Sq. Ft, this grand commercial building, has an extremely unique structure in glass and steel, beautiful landscaped gardens, water bodies and ample covered and open car parking.
GAPS Power & Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. was founded to develop and promote renewable energy projects across the nation. Its first biomass project was established in Aurangabad in 2005.
In 2017, the group spearheaded the founding of Cogent Foods, a leading fresh and frozen food manufacturing company based out of Navi Mumbai that provides "ready to cook & ready to eat" products to a number of hotels, institutions, airlines, cloud kitchens, QSR’s & a number of private brand across the country. The wide variety of market offerings includes products such as Fresh Cut chilled vegetables, Frozen Ready gravies, Sauces & Pastes, Ready to Eat Snacks and Meals and Frozen Bakery/Pastry products to our clients.
Over the years, Cogent Foods' client list includes Jubilant Foodworks (Dominos), YUM Foods (KFC, Pizza Hut, Taco Bell), Swiggy, Starbucks, Taj Hotels, Oberoi Flight Services (OFS), Taj Sats, to name a few.
In 2022, the GMS Group is foraying into the F&B Hospitality space with its first fine dining restaurant. It aspires to excel, by offering the world’s best cuisines that allow the customers to experience myriad palates from around the world and promises to introduce innovative dishes, with a vibrant exclusive bar program in a friendly welcoming atmosphere.
